FULL STORY..

We hired a nanny — a quiet 24-year-old girl who seemed sweet and responsible. My son, just 7, grew attached to her almost instantly. He would light up whenever she entered the room and throw tantrums when she was away. At first, I thought it was harmless. Children get attached to caregivers all the time.

But yesterday, while tidying up, I stumbled upon something that made my blood run cold. Inside her bag, I found a laminated photo of my son. Curious and uneasy, I turned it over — and that’s when my heart stopped.

On the back, in neat handwriting, she had written two words: “My Forever.”

I froze in horror, my hands shaking as a thousand thoughts ran through my mind. Why would she carry around a laminated photo of my child? Why would she write those words?

Suddenly, all her quietness, the way she watched him a little too closely, the unusual bond she seemed to encourage — it all made sense in the worst possible way.

I knew immediately that this wasn’t normal. That moment, I realized I had to act fast to protect my son.
